Privacy Policy
Effective November 8, 2026 · Updated for Share ETA, live map links and the iMessage app
Everyroad is a navigation app that maps the roads you travel. This policy explains what the app collects, where it goes, and the choices you have. In short: your map and travel history stay on your iPhone. A few optional features send limited information to Apple or Google so they can work, and nothing is sold or used for advertising.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your map of explored areas, your daily drive history, and your Passport (level, countries, states and badges).
- History you import: files you choose (like a Google Maps Timeline export or GPX tracks) and the locations of photos in your library. Photos themselves are never uploaded.
- Historical markers you've visited, your profile photo, and your settings.
- Your road trips, saved places, Great Roads progress and trip recaps.
- The people you pick to send your ETA to (their name and the phone number or email you chose). Everyroad uses Apple's contact picker, so it only sees the contacts you select, not your whole address book.
- Your Garage: vehicles, odometer readings, maintenance reminders, service log, and anything read from an OBD2 reader (trouble codes, VIN, live engine data). This never leaves your iPhone.
If you turn on iCloud backup, a copy of your map is saved to your own iCloud Drive, which only you can access.
Location
Everyroad uses your location to clear your map as you travel and to give directions. With “Always” permission it keeps recording while the app is closed. Your location history is not sent to us. Your current location leaves your iPhone only in these cases:
- Directions and maps. Google Maps and Google's navigation service receive your location, route and destination while you use them, under Google's Privacy Policy. Some searches, traffic checks and place details use Apple Maps, under Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Convoy. When you start or join a convoy, your name, current location and speed, and any quick messages you send are stored on Apple's iCloud servers so the other people in that convoy can see them. This stops and your convoy record is deleted when you leave. Every convoy ends on its own after 12 hours.
- Live map links. If you share a live map link (from a convoy or with Share ETA), anyone who has that link can see the convoy's names, current locations, speeds and destination on a web page while the convoy is going. The page reads this from Apple's iCloud servers and stops showing locations when the convoy or your directions end. Only share the link with people you want to see where you are.
- Map tools. Looking up historical markers sends the area you're viewing to Google. The Clean Up tool and Twisty Roads Near Me send an area to OpenStreetMap's servers to get road shapes. Neither includes your history.
- Weather and places along a route. Weather along your route sends points on that route to Apple's weather service. Searching along a trip and trip recaps use Apple Maps search and place names. These requests don't include your history.
Share ETA and Messages
Share ETA writes a text with your destination and arrival time and opens it in your Messages app; you choose whether to send it. Everyroad doesn't send texts by itself and doesn't see your conversations. The Everyroad iMessage app only sends what you tap: a convoy invite, your ETA, your map totals, or a road trip file. Invite and live map links open pages on everyroadapp.vercel.app. Those pages don't use cookies or analytics; the live map's background is drawn with OpenStreetMap map tiles.
Bluetooth and OBD2 readers
If you connect an OBD2 reader, Everyroad uses Bluetooth to talk to it, including in the background while you drive so it can warn you about a new check-engine light. What it reads stays on your iPhone.
Purchases
Everyroad Pro and the Road Trip Pass are bought through Apple. Apple handles payment; we don't receive your payment details. The app checks with Apple which purchases your Apple ID has.
Optional account and leaderboard
If you sign in with Apple to join the leaderboard, Everyroad stores your leaderboard name, level, square miles explored, the number of countries and states you've reached, and this month's new miles in Everyroad's iCloud database. It never stores your map or where you've been. You can hide yourself from the leaderboard, sign out, or delete your account at any time in Account. Deleting your account removes your leaderboard entry.
If you use Game Center, only your count of historical markers visited is sent to Apple's Game Center leaderboard.
Feedback
If you send feedback from the app, we receive what you write, your leaderboard name if you have one, and the app version.
